It was another unusually hot day in Dubai with the temperature hitting 93 degrees on Tuesday. Numerous World Cup day entrants went out on both the main track and turf course at Nad al Sheba for some maintenance works. Here are some of the expected entrants.

Japanese hope Vermilion, going for his fifth Grade 1 win in a row in Saturday's Dubai World Cup, cantered 11 furlongs on the main track.

Trainer Sei Ishizaka said of the Japan Cup Dirt winner, "I have not seen him for a week since he left Japan, but he seems to be in a good form and looks good. His jockey Yutaka Take will be riding him in a fast workout tomorrow morning."

Exercise rider Shinji Furukawa said, "As for the travel to Dubai, it took a bit more time than expected because the flight was a little late, but the horse did not have any problems with the long flight. He is eating very well and seems to like the Dubai water. The temperature is quite different from Japan though, it is cool in the morning, so this is OK. Also, thanks to the very good air conditioning at the stable, the horse is not suffering at all from the daytime heat."

Better Talk Now

One of America's hopes in the Dubai Sheema Classic, Better Talk Now, galloped 1 3/4 miles on the turf course on Monday morning under exercise rider Fenella O'Flynn. She said he was "brilliant. You couldn't ask for any better. Every day he is getting better. The grass is perfect, just like it was" at Lone Star Park, where Better Talk Now won the 2004 Breeders' Cup Turf.

Spring House

The other American in the 1 1/2 mile Sheema Classic, Spring House, worked 1/2 a mile on the main track in 49 seconds flat in preparation for the Sheema Classic, covering the final furlong in 11 1/5 seconds under exercise rider Iggy Puglisi. Trainer Julio Canani said, "That's what I wanted. He looked super. He didn't get hot. He moved great and looked great. This horse is calm, cool as a cucumber. He looked very, very good."

Linngari

Linngari galloped on the main track on Tuesday for trainer Herman Brown He said, "The Dubai Duty Free has an extremely strong field but Linngari has the background to run a big race as he was a very strong second behind the best turf horse (Admire Moon) last year. He has the potential to perform well on the day. We need to have the horse feeling well and he'll do the rest."

Vodka

Dubai Duty Free entrant Vodka, the first filly to win the Japanese Derby in 64 years, went out for some maintenance work on Tuesday morning under jockey Yutaka Take. Take commented after her workout, "She was alone on the turf course, so she was shying and a bit nervous about the surroundings. I think she just was not acquainted with the place, however, once she changed into the top gear, she put in a fantastic performance and I thought that was her real form." Trainer Katsuhiko Sumii added, "She was shying a bit, but her actual performance was no problem at all.

We have been doing our best for her and everything has been going well."

Admire Aura and Iide Kenshin

Admire Aura, entered in the Sheema Classic cantered with compatriot and UAE Derby entrant Iide Kenshin. Exercise rider Tsuyoshi Matsuda aboard Admire Aura said, "The horse did not have any problem during the trip to Dubai. He is eating up very well and is in a good form. We are planning to gallop him with Iide Kenshin again tomorrow."
Exercise rider Yasumasa Matsumoto, aboard Iide Kenshin, said, "Actually the horse's condition is much better than in Japan.

He is very relaxed as well. He is a very smart horse and a very good boy. We will give him another fast breeze tomorrow. He will probably have a light canter from the 6f pole out and then quicken up in the stretch."

Barcola

Godolphin Mile entrant Barcola jogged 1 3/8 miles on the main track under exercise rider Tony Romero who was following instructions from trainer Mark Hennig. He has not raced since finishing second by a head to Evening Attire in the Queens County Handicap at Aqueduct in December, his 11th start of 2007.

Jet Express

Godolphin Mile entrant Jet Express cantered on the dirt track this morning under jockey Royston Ffrench and is reported to be moving well. Ffrench said, "He's in good order and he had a nice canter around. Time will tell but we have big hopes for him." Trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe added: "All horses have a chance, everyone wants a place and we are the same. We are against very strong horses and all we can do is our best."

Golden Shaheen hopeful Narc went out for some maintenance work on Tuesday morning for trainer Mike De Kock. Jockey Johnny Murtagh gets the call aboard the South African-bred.

Golden Shaheen entrant Bushwacker jogged the wrong way 1 3/8 miles and then galloped 1/2 mile under Walter Cicero, assistant to trainer William Currin. Cicero said, "He's going to be the winner. The horse feels great. I think he's going to be the best horse in the race. He's very happy, he likes the track and feels comfortable." He won the Vernon O. Underwood in December then finished last in the Sunshine Millions Sprint in January last time out.
