Failure Opens The Door To Learning

105 1
Failure Is an Option

A student failed twice in the same course, an entrepreneur who invested a huge amount of money and found out that the company is a scam, a basketball player who took the risk of shooting the ball to gain 3 points on the game's final seconds and missed, a business that incorporated a new software that destroyed the company files, a woman who had breast implants that caused her cancer, and a doctor who took the initiative of exhausting alternative procedure and caused the death of the patient.

The Best Teacher

Indeed, many failures are experienced in our lives and the effect could be extremely unpleasant. I do have a share of my experience and you might have yours too. As the saying goes 'experience is the best teacher', many people believe it's the other way around. Experience, in fact, can be the worst teacher since it takes the test first prior to you learning the lesson. Often, when people around us try to comfort us telling us that we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves, we say "sure", yet we are doing otherwise. We are becoming too hard on ourselves because failure is something that wouldn't leave your mind quickly. Failure is something that can make you regret spending money, time, and effort but all went down the drain. And in some worst case, it can be a great loss of something so valuable.

Failure Opens the Door to Learning from Your Experience

"There was once two prison men sat behind the bars. One saw mud while the other saw stars." In this story, those two prison men are now paying the costs of their actions. However, as they contemplate on their situation, the other prisoner was completely devoured by his depression. There is the feeling of 'giving up' for he sees no light in his future. But the other prisoner has held his head up with his hopes and dreams. As you may well notice, failure happens. Not to mention that it happens when you least expect it. However, true failure comes in when you react negatively to the situation. True failure is about giving up completely. It is about being unable to recognize that if you look at the midnight skies, the stars are still shining. See, no matter how disheartening and discouraging your fall was true failure is about not getting up and not moving on. You must perceive failure as a great opportunity for you to learn. You will also be able to learn from the failures of other people. But it is your own failure that will help you meaningfully. So embrace them for the reason that it will lead you to your success.
