• The scientific question is: Does an increase in thermal energy allow more sugar to dissolve? The independent variable is the different temperatures used to heat the different sugar solutions. The dependent variable is to measure the amount of sugar that dissolves after testing several different temperatures of water with sugar added to it.

• The scientific question is: Does the temperature of water affect the growth rate of a pea plant? The independent variable is the different temperatures of water. The dependent variable is the growth rate of the pea plant based on height.

• The scientific question is: which battery brand lasts the longest? The independent variable is the different types of batteries used. The dependent variable is the amount of time each battery lasts.
