How do I Convert a Potato Into Energy for a Light Bulb?

104 2
    • 1). Cut a potato in half.

    • 2). Tie one end of copper wire around a penny and insert the penny into the exposed center of the potato. Any type of copper wire works.

    • 3). Insert a galvanized nail into the exposed center of the potato next to the wire. Leave a small amount of space between the wire and the nail so they do not touch. Wrap the loose end of the wire around the nail. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each half of the potato.

    • 4). Touch the copper wire to the metal contact point on the bottom of the bulb. If the bulb does not light up, continue to make more potato batteries until you have enough voltage.
