How to Use Garmin MapSource

Connect your Garmin GPS device to your computer. Depending on the age of your GPS device and your computer, this may be done using either a USB cable (most likely) or a serial cable (least likely). - 2). Open the MapSource software. If using a USB cable, the MapSource software may open automatically. If it doesn't, access the software through the operating system's "Programs" menu.
- 3). Click the "Map Tool" button in MapSource. The button is usually located on the far left side of the toolbar.
- 4). Move the mouse over the graphic map and select the desired map region. To select several regions, click and drag the mouse over the regions you want to select. The selected regions should appear in the data tabs on the left side of the MapSource window.
- 5). Click the "Send to Device" button in the top right-hand corner of the toolbar.
- 1). Click "Ctrl + R" or click "Edit" >"New Route."
- 2). Click the "Find Places" button. The button should be near the middle of the screen and looks like a pair of binoculars.
- 3). Select the "City," "Feature," "Address," "Intersection," or "Waypoint" tab depending on your needs.
- 4). Enter the requested information and click "Find."
