A Baby's Blessing

Precious baby, here's a special blessing for your wall

A treasure chest of riches for the life of one so small

You cannot understand its words but one day you will read

The loving thoughts your parents wished upon their tiny seed

Our hope is that your life be filled with joy throughout your years

Clothed in happiness without the sorrow, pain and tears

That you will know prosperity among the human race

Performing works of virtue found in those of charm and grace

That truth and honesty will be alive inside your heart

And of the pure and wholesome things your life will be a part

We want you to be fair and just in everything you do

Consider acts of charity and kindness nothing new

That you will be the patient one and harbor self-control

And be aware that pride will cast a darkness on your soul

The final part of this our special blessing unto you

Concerns the Son of God from whom eternal life is through

We pray you will accept His gift and kindle from within

The cleansing fire that purifies your heart of every sin

Then live a life that honors Him your days upon the earth

And know He gave the world a special blessing by your birth
