Makeup is a fun addition to your look. Women of all ages and races wear and enjoy makeup. The particular look that is best suited to you will depend on your skin color, undertones, and possibly your age. For most women, it's best to find the looks that are best suited to us, but also be open to trying new and innovative makeup ideas. Black women have unique challenges when it comes to makeup, but they also have many benefits. Generally, black women are able to wear brighter colors and bolder looks due to a darker skin tone. It's easy for black women to update their looks by just using different colors or types of makeup.

    Orange and Bronze

    • Makeup colors in the orange and bronze families likely look amazing on darker skin. Create a warm, summery look by using peach, browns, orange, and bronze colors in your makeup. Start with using a neutral eyeshadow color over your entire eye area, up to your brow bone. Next, apply a light peach eyeshadow over just the eyelid area. Apply a bronze eyeshadow in the crease of your eyelid and blend it with the peach eyeshadow. Line the eyes with a dark brown eyeliner. To add a bit more pizazz, use the same bronze eyeshadow that was used in your crease to line your eyes by applying it on top of the eyeliner around your eyes. Using a very light hand, apply an orange- or bronze-toned blush to the apples of your cheeks. Top off this look with some shiny clear lip gloss or lip gloss that has a bit of gold shimmer in it.

    Tinted Moisturizer

    • Black women often have a difficult time finding foundation that is well suited to their skin tones. That is because there is a dearth of companies that cater to darker skinned women. Thus, finding good coverage for their facial skin can be a major task. One option is to use tinted moisturizer along with a small amount of liquid highlighter to cover minor imperfections and make the skin glow. It's easier to find a tinted moisturizer, rather than foundation, that matches your skin, because it is much lighter coverage. Try to locate a tinted moisturizer that has sunscreen in it as well. Before applying it to your skin, add a small amount of liquid highlighter, about the size of a pea, and mix it with the tinted moisturizer in your hand. Next, apply the mixture to your skin.

    Neutral with Bright Lips

    • Black women can often be more daring in their makeup choices when compared with lighter-skinned women. One fun makeup idea is to wear a very bright, bold lip color. It can be daunting to do so if you are not used to how it looks on you. The trick to doing this, especially for beginners, is to keep the rest of the face relatively neutral. That means only using earthy colors, light browns, and taupe on your eyes. In addition, do not wear blush that is very bright. Stick to a light application of a pink or peach blush. A fun way to wear a bold lip color is to wear a bright fuschia lipstick. To make it even more noticeable, add a clear lip gloss on top.
