How to Make a Dress-Up Box
- 1). Get a large cardboard box.
- 2). Ask your kids to help you decorate it. Let them go wild with their imagination. Use markers, glue, glitter, stickers and so on.
- 3). Dig out all those old Halloween costumes and dance and play outfits. Put them in the box.
- 4). Go through your closets and remove all those ugly old clothes you'll never wear again. Add those to the box.
- 5). Sort through mittens, gloves and hats. Place any worn-out or mismatched items in the dress-up box.
- 6). Donate scarves, boots, shoes and extra material to the box as well.
- 7). Bring the box out on a rainy day and let your kids dig through it. Watch them make crazy outfits for themselves.
- 8). Try structuring the play by asking them to attempt to dress up as certain things - an elephant, a princess, a chef. Or have each person dress up as something and have everyone else try to guess who or what they are.
- 9). Keep the box in a closet or attic so you can add things to it easily.
