    • Medical sales representatives organize meetings with physicians where they give presentations on the benefits of their existing products, or where they unveil new items. A medical sales representative must know his products well and have expert knowledge about competitors' goods.

    Working Conditions

    • Most medical sales representatives work a standard 40-hour week, Monday to Friday. But they get to organize their own schedules and meetings with physicians. Much of the time is spent driving from one client to the next.

    Qualification

    • Medical sales representatives will require a bachelor's degree. Many employers prefer their staff to have degrees in something science-related. A proven track record in sales is also preferred.

    Advancement

    • Medical sales representatives can move on to supervisory or training roles. There is also the possibility of moving into an administrative and planning role. According to State University, the sector will grow as fast as the national average for all jobs through 2014.

    Salary

    • According to Indeed, the average salary of a medical sales representative in 2010 was $48,000 a year. Sales representatives will also receive benefits such as life insurance, retirement plans, and company cars or a car allowance.
