How to Visit Rockome Gardens in Arcola, Illinois
- 1). Browse through Crafter's Alley at the Gardens. See soapmaking, the blacksmith, glass-blowing, wood making and copper making. You can catch all of the artists at work and perhaps maybe even make some art for you too.
- 2). Take a ride and a rest on the Rockome train in the gardens. If you have been walking for a while, or you have finished a big meal at the restaurant, take some time on the train. It runs every hour on the hour and you can get a break to have an ice cream cone at the snack shop. This is a wonderful way to tour the gardens.
- 3). Hold your breath and take a moment to experience the beautiful colorful flower gardens at Rockome. See the creative rock sculptures and smell all of the flowers that are located in seven gardens. This beauty has been placed in the old Amish order community.
- 4). Become a kid again or let your children play at the tree house and the playground. Let the kids run around the playround or take them to the giant rocking chair for a picture perfect moment. You might even take your spouse, boyfriend or family member and sit in the chair together for a hilarious portrait. The giant rocking chair is a popular accessory at the gardens.
- 5). Bring your appetite and eat at the Rockome Restaurant. Eat home cooked Amish tasting meals or try the Family Style meal that features all that you can eat fried chicken. You can also order ham or roast beef. Other selections from the menu include chef salads, soups, country fried steak, meatloaf, potatoes over noodles and meatloaf.
