Cleaning a floor is not always challenging, but whenever there is a cord, cleaning is complicated. Not only is avoiding the electrical cord important, but the area where the tool is used is limited by the length of the cord. Battery powered floor cleaning tools make it easier to clean a floor without worrying about the cord length or accidentally running over the cord. - Hand held vacuums charge the battery and then are used to get into small spaces, hard to reach locations and flooring areas on stairs. These tiny vacuums are run on rechargeable batteries, which make them an ideal vacuum for cleaning floors without wasting electricity or throwing out batteries. Almost every vacuum brand has at least one battery operated, hand held vacuum cleaner that is used on one or more flooring materials.
- Floor buffers come in two varieties: battery powered and electric. The electric floor buffers have the cord that connects to a wall while the battery powered floor buffers use batteries. Battery powered floor buffers require changing or charging batteries, depending on the type and brand of the floor buffer.
- Floor scrubbers clean the floor with water and soap, scrubbing away dirt and grime. These are used on hard floors and not on carpets. There are both battery operated floor scrubbers and electric floor scrubbers available. The battery operated floor scrubbers include push type scrubbers or riding floor scrubbers. The riding floor scrubbers are ideal for large spaces.
- There are a variety of carpet sweepers available that are battery operated. These work on carpeted flooring rather than hard floor types like wood or tile. Carpet sweepers are similar to vacuums and remove dirt from a carpet by sweeping the dirt out of it.
