Where Should I Go From Here?

I bet some of you often ask yourself this, especially people who aced every exams and can get in any college, and any course they want. Following high school or college, choosing a path to your career is like peeking at a glance of your future through an open door. You can see it, but first you need to pass through it to reach.

Now, choosing a career is probably one of the most important decisions you have to make in your life because you are going to live with it, doing it, facing it until your old days. If you choose something that you dislike, you probably going to feel tortured for the rest of your life.

Factors to be considered: First, your strengths and weaknesses. Like I said previously, you have to know what you're good at and what you're not because it will be easier doing something you are good at (obviously). And consequently, how hard are you willing to study, if you are the kind who are partying all the time, love chilling sessions or are game freaks, and not willing to study hard, then, you are more inclined to be brainstorming and have good thinking skills- thus a career of biology doesn't suit you, you are more inclined to physics, engineering and the like. Or if you are a maths person and you can't really do sciences, or if you are just so linguistically talented that you can catch other languages very quickly. You should understand what suits you better by now and all these things need to be taken into consideration.

Second, your interest. For those who don't know what you should do with your life, think of your interests, what you like to do, what will you enjoy doing. For example if you have a hobby of playing guitar, and you think you really good at it, why don't take you a shot at it through the correct media and make money from playing guitar. There are lot of things you can become such as a guitarist, song writer and many more.

Third, opportunities and competitions. These two will contradict your interests and talents when endeavouring. You see, parents will ask their children to be a doctor because a doctor is always needed, population grows by time- more people get sick everyday- hence the need for more doctors. And there are numerous businessmen, economists where the competition is big. And musicians, there are just so many talented people nowadays.

When thinking of these factors, you should not think of taking the easy road- meaning to go for something that you know you can get an easy job from it. Because seriously, you can end up doing something you don't like and regret it for the rest of your life. Think deep.

Fourth and the most important thing is, most high school graduates won't even understand most of the careers, for example what is a pharmacist's job or a dental speciality. Maybe they don't even know what scientists do. They only think they know from what they see and assume. There are people who think accountants are running businesses.

So, huge advice- look up, study, and do some research about all the careers that you are interested in and if you got time, look for things that you don't like too (you might come across something you never heard of to be exactly what you are looking for). This is vital as you might find what you want to be is not the ideal job anymore, and some things you never knew existed might interest you more. Go to a career course of something for a while or better, in this modern world, you can get to know everything from the internet.

So that's that, I hope it's enough. Think thoroughly when making a decision because you won't be getting younger everyday. Balance all the factors, open your eyes, and choose wisely. And good luck in pursuing your dream.
