Troubleshooting a Toyota Scion

    • 1). If your Toyota Scion is completely dead, you may have a dead battery. Open hood of car and check battery connection. The connection should be secure. If connectors are loose, there may be a problem with the battery's connection. Check to see if the battery has any corrosion. If you see any debris on the battery, disconnect connectors and gently wipe battery connection terminals with a clean cloth. If the battery is dead, recharge it by jumpstarting or consider replacing the battery.

    • 2). If your Toyota Scion is starting but you're having trouble getting it into gear or the car won't move, open the hood and check the automatic transmission fluid levels. If your Toyota Scion has manual transmission, check the level of fluids in the clutch master cylinder.

    • 3). If the lights in the panel of your Toyota Scion won't light up, there may be a problem with the dimmer switch or individual LED lights.

    • 4). If the suspension makes a knocking noise when going over bumps, check the top nuts to see if they are loose. Tighten if necessary.

    • 5). If your Toyota Scion isn't starting, check to see if fuel is reaching the carberetor by disconnecting the fuel pipe and checking to see if there is a blockage. Blow through the pipe or tap the pipe to try to clear any blockage that exists.

    • 6). If you suspect a problem with the exhaust system, check the exhaust pipes for any damage. If you see any damage such as corrosion or small holes, contact the dealership for replacement.

    • 7). If you're unable to troubleshoot the problems that your Toyota Scion is having, bring it to a Scion dealership or an auto repair shop for further troubleshooting.
