Ways to Do Crunches to Lose Belly Fat
- Basic Crunch
The basic crunch works the upper area of your stomach and abs. Start on your back, knees bent, with your hands either across your chest or behind your head. Slowly raise yourself up using your abs while pressing your lower back to the floor. Then slowly lower your back down to your starting position. The slower, more controlled, the better. Shoot for 20-25 reps focusing on squeezing the abs with each movement. - Target Lower Abs
For the lower abs: Lie on the floor and place your hands behind your head. Remember that the hands are just for support; do not put undo pressure on the neck to complete this exercise. That defeats the purpose and strains the back. Bend the knees to a 90-degree angle. With feet together, contract the abs to bring the hips off the floor, reaching the legs towards the ceiling. This is small, controlled movement. Try not to swing the hips and shoot for 15-20 reps. - All over Abs
This exercise is an overall ab tightener and works the obliques as well. Continue in the face-up lying-down position. Put legs straight up, slightly bent with knees crossed. Keep your hands to your sides. Contract the abs to lift your shoulder blades off the floor toward your feet. Lower slowly. Remember to control your movements. 20-25 reps is a great start.
