What is the Key to the Fountain of Youth? Find Out

103 3
There's a small village tucked away in Japan's countryside which has become known as the "village of long life.
" Here in this remote village named Yuzurihara, villagers in their eighties and nineties still work in the fields, read without glasses, and maintain smooth, unwrinkled skin and flexible non-arthritic joints.
In fact, this village contains ten times more people eighty-five and older than in any part of North America.
So what is their secret? What is their "fountain of youth?" The town doctor and author of five books about Yuzurihara, Dr.
Toyosuke Komori, attributed the long longevity and youthful appearance of these villagers to a molecule called hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid, also called HA or hyaluronan, is an important component of body tissue.
It is plentiful in our bodies when we are younger, lubricating joints and keeping the skin smooth, unwrinkled, and youthful.
But as we grow older, our levels of hyaluronic acid decline due to various factors, including UV rays and free radicals.
And as levels of HA decline, wrinkles and sagging skin appear.
Hyaluronic Acid -- The Key To Unwrinkled Skin   Hyaluronic acid is now believed to be one of the most important factors in maintaining young, unwrinkled skin.
It is a substance that fills space in between the cells, sometimes described as "goo", and promotes smoothness, plumpness, and hydration.
Not only that, but it also promotes the production of collagen, which is the most basic building block of skin.
The more collagen in the skin, the younger the skin looks.
Unfortunately, there are several different things that can breakdown HA, including UV rays, free radicals, and an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
This creates a chain reaction that leads to less hydration and plumpness of the skin and less collagen production, which then leads to sagging skin and the formation of wrinkles.
Fortunately for us, there are skincare products that can prevent the degradation of hyaluronic acid, which in turn prevents aging.
