How to Tune a Fingerboard

103 13
Tuning a fingerboard is a simple process that consist of the rider basically removing the standard parts on a fingerboard and replacing them with after market parts.
Fingerboards generally come with only plastic bushings and no washers or pivot cups making them stiff and a little tricky to ride.
With a few easy steps and a few dollars a completely new riding experience can be achieved.
Step one in fingerboard tuning would be to remove the standard hard plastic bushings that come on a commercially available fingerboard and replacing them with soft bushings.
Along with the soft bushings metal washers can also be added given better performance.
Using different sets of soft bushings and metal washers can give different feels, more bushings gives a softer more controlled feel, while more washers gives a tighter more controlled ride.
Step two is adding a pivot cup to the fingerboard truck which generally come with out them.
Attach one end of the pivot cup to the trucks hanger and the other end into the hole in the truck face plate.
Adding bushings and washers raises the trucks hanger making pivot cups necessary to get the mini skateboards trucks tight.
Step three is the most often left out when tuning a finger skateboard and that is simply replacing the standard gritty style grip tape with a foam grip tape more suited to doing finger boarding tricks.
While standard grip tape defiantly gives a more realistic look to a mini skateboard, foam tape is needed for advanced tricks.
