Hyundai Genesis Sedan Specs
- The Hyundai Genesis is a full-size luxury sedan produced by Hyundai Motor Company, a South Korean automaker. Hyundai's Chairman and CEO Chung Mong-koo observed that the Genesis was Hyundai's first entry into the luxury car market dominated by such brands as BMW, Mercedes and Lexus. Although the sedan fits into the $40,000-car bracket, it was designed to deliver some of the features of a $60,000 luxury car.
- The 2011 Hyundai Genesis comes with either of three powertrain options: 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter V6 engines, or Hyundai's newer 4.6-liter Tau V8 engine. The Tau V8 engine produces 368 horsepower and reaches the speed of 60 mph in less than six seconds. The two V6 engines are also high-performers, delivering 268 horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque and 290 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque, respectively.
- According to Hyundai, the 2011 Hyundai Genesis's body structure is 12 to 14 percent stiffer than a BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class, yet it is somewhat lighter. The front-to-rear weight distribution comes very close to the 50/50 ratio that BMW made popular. In this and other respects, the Hyundai Genesis tries to emulate a luxury car. The 2011 Hyundai Genesis is 4,975 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,475 high. The car weighs 1,704 kg.
- The 2011 Hyundai Genesis has a luxurious interior, which includes a leather-wrapped dash and an ultraviolet reflective, leather-wrapped steering wheel that remains cool even in extreme sunlight. The vehicle also includes high-tech devices, such as electronic stability control, adaptive headlights, radar-based active cruise control, XM NavTraffic, a 500-watt 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, as well as electronic active head restraints.
