How to Make a Grave Wreath
- 1). Bend two identical lengths of flexible wire to form a perfect circle in your desired diameter for the base of the wreath. Dab a bead of hot glue on the ends of each wire circle and hold them together for two to three minutes, or until the glue dries. Alternatively, bend two wire hangers to form identical circles, wrapping the loose ends around the hooked ends so they hold their shape.
- 2). Hold both the wire circles flush against each other and cover them with green floral tape. Wind the tape around one end of the tape and circle it all the way around until the other end.
- 3). Cut evergreen branches down to 10-inch lengths with sharp scissors. Spread a branch over the wire base of the wreath and secure it in place with lengths of floral wire. Overlapping the stems of adjacent branches, continue adding branches to the wire until it is completely covered. Alternatively, cover the wire form with an evergreen vine.
- 4). Inspect the wreath and reposition a branch over the wire, if necessary, so it is not visible anymore and the greenery that covers it is dense and thick.
- 5). Insert your desired real or silk flowers into the greenery to add color to the wreath. Cut excess stem length down to 4 or 5 inches using sharp scissors. Cut the ends diagonally instead of forming straight cuts to allow for easy penetration into the dense foliage. Determine where on the wreath you want to add bursts of color, and push the desired flower stem into the greenery at the point. Alternatively, dab a bead of glue over the flower stem and hold it in place over the greenery.
- 6). Glue a bow along the top middle or base of the wreath for added effect. Depending on personal preference, use ribbon in a color that matches the flowers in the wreath, or one in the deceased’s favorite color. Hold the bow in place until the glue dries.
