The Internal Workings of an Electric Bike

103 12
An electric bike works with the help of an electric motor which needs to be charged on a regular basis.
These bikes are considered to be more comfortable than standard bikes mainly because they allow the biker to let loose and switch to the internal motor if they don't feel like doing all the work.
An electric bike may look like its regular relative at first glance but as far as the make-up is concerned, the two couldn't be more different.
That being said, it has the regular frame which includes the wheels, handlebars, pedals and saddles but it also has two extra components, namely, the battery and the motor.
This makes an electric bike slightly heavier than the regular alternative but unless you plan to haul it onto your shoulders and walk around town, you should be okay.
Coming back to the point, the motor will either be situated in the front of back portion of the hub of the wheel and a wire will make sure that it is in constant contact with the battery.
The throttle mechanism will be present within close proximity to the battery, usually with the help of the same wire.
Speaking of the throttle mechanism, manufacturers have a choice between the power-on-demand or the power-assisted option.
The power-assisted electric bike functions with the help of a special sensor which taps into the bike's performance and keeps a close eye on how fast or slow the biker goes.
It combines the two and the overall power of the bike increases or decreases accordingly.
The power-on-demand throttle mechanism will require the biker to push a button as and when an increase in power is needed.
Some manufacturers substitute the button with a twist-throttle.
As you can see, an electric bike will always do what you ask it to which is the beauty of technology isn't it?
