Preemie Spotlight - Amillia Taylor
Updated October 30, 2014.
Considered the youngest premature baby ever to have survived, Amillia Taylor was born at 21 weeks and 6 days on October 25, 2006. Weighing in at just 9 ounces, Amillia's mother lied to doctors about her gestational age - 23 weeks is the youngest age at which most US doctors will try to save a premature baby. Although she suffered from a mild IVH and had surgery to repair her eyes due to ROP, by age 1 Amillia showed no long term effects of prematurity.
