How to Change a Shower Door Seal

104 4
    • 1). Open the shower door so you can access the seal easily.

    • 2). Examine the seal and determine how it is attached to the door. Some seals will be screwed into place; in this case you will need to first remove the screws and then pull the seal out of the door. Other seals may simply be held in place by clips inside the seal or glue. With these types of seals, try to pull the seal off the door by hand or with a pair of pliers. If that fails, cut away the seal with a sharp utility knife.

    • 3). Use the utility knife to cut away any caulk, glue or other debris that might be clinging to the shower door where the new seal will be installed.

    • 4). Apply rubbing alcohol to a rag or towel. Rub this along the edge of the shower door where the seal will be installed. This will help clean the door and also remove any traces of mold, mildew or soap residue.

    • 5). Press the new seal into place along the edge of the shower door, starting at the top. Slowly work your way down, pressing the seal into place until it is secure.

    • 6). Insert and tighten the shower door seal screws if necessary.
