Child Support Enforcement

• If the applicant is applying for Medicaid for children under the age of 18 and the other parent is absent, the applicant must cooperate fully with child-support enforcement. This is done by providing the name and any other available information about the absent parent.
  
  

Potential Income

• The applicant must take steps to obtain any income for which they might be eligible. Potential income includes Social Security, pensions or unemployment.
  
  

Income Limits

• Income is calculated by the money brought in each month from employment or other sources before taxes or other deductions such as insurance are taken out. Work expenses and child care expenses may be deducted from this gross amount if the applicant is employed. A family of one individual must make less that $903 a month. For larger families, add $311 per person monthly to find the gross monthly income limit.
