    • 1). Check to see if your country is part of the Visa Waiver Program. The program allows citizens of 36 countries to travel, including for the purposes of medical treatment, to the United States for 90 days without a visa. To enter the United States, foreigners must have an readable electronic passport.

    • 2). File an Online Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (Form DS-160). Nonimmigrant visa applications can only be completed online. The application must be completed in English, have no errors and include the embassy or consulate where you will attend the interview. After completing the application be sure to print the bar-code page. You will also need to contact the embassy or consulate to schedule an interview.

    • 3). Collect all required medical documentation. To be granted a B-2 visa for medical treatment you will need a doctor's note stating the ailment and the reasons why treatment is needed in the United States, a letter from a doctor or hospital in the United States which includes the type, cost and time of treatment, and proof of financial means to cover all in-country expenses.

    • 4). Bring all your documentation with you to your consular interview. Along with the medical documentation, you will need a valid passport and one passport photo. The interview is conducted by a consular official to validate the reasons for needing a B-2 visa. Interviews are mandatory for anyone age 14 to 79.

    • 5). Travel to the United States. You must cross into the United States before your visa expires, or you will have to reapply. Upon arrival, the immigration official will issue you an Arrival-Departure Record (Form I-94). This form should be kept with your passport at all times.
