Golf is a game that requires on-going mental training and development to play your best consistently on the course.
This article will reveal a technique that takes just 5 minutes a day and will help you develop your mind to have greater focus, enhance your ability to visualize, and improve your swing through mental rehearsal.
The 5 Minute Performance Enhancer Mental Technique: Step 1: Find a quiet place where you can sit back and relax for 3-5 minutes.
Step 2: Begin the process of physical relaxation by taking a few slow deep breaths.
(A great relaxation breathing technique is the 336 method.
This simply means inhale for 3, hold for 3, and exhale for 6 then repeat.
) Step 3: Close your eyes to block out distractions and let your body relax more.
With your eyes closed, begin to imagine as vividly as possible being all alone at your favorite golf course.
Give your imagination the freedom to be child-like again and do your best to make the experience as real as possible in your mind by incorporating as many senses as you can.
Step 4: Imagine that you are standing on the tee box and there is a bucket of brand new golf balls with numbers 25-1 on them.
As vividly as you can, imagine picking up the golf ball numbered 25 and tee it up.
Next, visualize yourself executing a perfect golf swing and striking the ball right on the sweet spot.
As you complete your swing and watch the ball get launched down the fairway, simply allow your mental and physical relaxation to increase.
Once the ball hits your target, powerfully declare in your mind a keyword (i.
e.
confident) to begin conditioning this keyword to be a mental trigger for success in the future.
When you are ready, imagine picking up the ball numbered 24, and repeat the same process.
Experience as real as you can, swinging perfectly and hitting another beautiful golf shot.
Again, double your mental and physical relaxation as the ball flies down the fairway.
Once it hits the target, declare your keyword.
Continue this process until you have successfully hit all 25 golf balls perfectly in your mind.
Step 5: After mentally hitting all 25 golf balls, repeat a positive suggestion to yourself a minimum of 10 times to program your mind for success in any given area.
For example: "Everyday and in every way I am getting better and better at golf.
" Step 6: Take a few deep breaths to re-energize your body and mind.
Then count from 1-3 and open your eyes.
This exercise should take around 3-5 minutes to complete.
Side Notes:

For example, find a bench on a busy street corner to practice the exercise or play loud music in the background.
This will increase your ability to focus in any situation and give you the power to handle anything you will encounter on the golf course.
  3. Have fun with this exercise! After learning the basic exercise, as described above, let your creativity take over and imagine hitting other types of shots.
If you are learning how to work the ball, then visualize yourself fading and drawing the ball perfectly.
You might imagine holing 25 shots from the sand or hitting 25 perfect approach shots from various distances.
Perhaps you imagine hitting 25 perfect shots in a competition setting or draining 25 winning putts in front of huge galleries and TV cameras.
The possibilities are unlimited so let your imagination run wild.
Just make sure that every mental shot you hit is perfect.
Know that every shot you hit vividly in your mind produces almost as much success as executing a real shot because it's been proven that mental rehearsal develops similar neural patterns in the brain.
  4. When you are on the course, declare your keyword before taking your shot to trigger the confidence, focus, and relaxation that you have conditioned into yourself through this exercise.
  5. To develop unbreakable focus you must work on developing it just like you work on your golf swing.
