  We all need a break sometimes and a vacation is a great way to get away from the stresses of everyday life, let loose and recharge your batteries. Maybe you don't have time to take that two-week romantic vacation to Europe, or that family trip to the Caribbean is just not affordable. A mini vacation will allow you to get away for a few days, somewhere local for some rest, relaxation and fun.
  
  

Visit the nearest City

• If you live in a suburb or small town, pack up the family and spend a couple of days exploring the nearest city to you. Cities offer culture, museums, attractions and a variety of restaurants and accommodations. Stay at an economy hotel and explore the city's attractions during the day. Visit areas of the city you haven't been to before. Be sure to stop by the tourist bureau in that city for discounts on dining and attractions.
  
  

Weekend in the Country

• Alternatively, if you live in a big city, a relaxing weekend in the country may be just what you need. Find a quaint bed and breakfast for you and your significant other in a tiny town no more than a few hours from home. If you are bringing the kids, a national chain hotel may offer discount rates and free breakfast. Stroll through Main Street to check out the local shops and boutiques. Take your nature walk with your family and have a picnic. Ask locals for dining recommendations.
  
  

Go Camping

• Spend a couple of days unwinding in the great outdoors. Camping offers a great way to enjoy nature and bring the family closer together by working together to set up camp. Pitch a tent, make a fire and let the kids roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Tell ghost stories by the fire. If there is a lake or stream nearby, go fishing. Campgrounds typically have a general store for fishing gear.
  
  

One night at a Luxury Hotel

• Splurge on just one night at a five star hotel in your area. A luxury hotel room offers the perfect ambiance for a romantic night with your significant other. Order champagne and room service. Some hotels will even have special romance packages that will include chocolates or chocolate covered strawberries. Enjoy the luxury amenities such as the pool, jacuzzi and the hotel's restaurant.
