If you've decided to shed off a few pounds, then you'll have most probably have created some sort of workout plan. But you likely haven't worked out in a long while, so you have no clue where to get started. Perhaps you feel it's somewhat intimidating. All you have to do is get started and walk. You need to make walking an integral element of your exercise plan.

You'll be astonished how simple it is to squeeze walking into your workout program. Are you a dog owner? Take it for a nice, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn't count. After 7 days, you'll have walked a minimum of seventy minutes more than if you hadn't walked at all. You can double this by merely walking your dog twice a day. Perhaps you can try walking to work, or at least part of the way? You can try this no matter the distance of your home from your workplace. If you're lucky enough to get just a thirty-minute or so walk to your place of work, that'll be an extra hour of walking every day. But then, if you catch the bus to work, simply use a bus stop farther away than the one you usually use. You'll discover it actually is no big deal to add more walking to your daily workout plan.

Walking is great for your body and overall health. The reason walking is so wonderful for your heart and at helping you lose weight is that it is the ideal aerobic workout. There is no need for you to be concerned about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, because you can go as slowly as you must. My brother is really lean (but he eats a lot of junk food) and I asked him how he does it. He told me he's never really thought about it, but maybe it's because he walks quite a bit daily. At any rate it now makes sense. There's no excuse not to exercise, when walking is so simple.

You'll have a better likelihood of sticking with your walking regimen if you simply make it part of your everyday routine. Then, with a proper, nourishing diet, you'll also begin losing weight as if by magic. As you get used to walking, you'll notice that you're unquestionably feeling better and, because it's not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced as well. Before you know it, you'll be looking forward to your usual walks and planning on going on walks even more. Why should you hold back, if you want to walk more? As soon as you're walking at a pretty good pace and feel ready, You may be ready for jogging. After that, you can do anything you want.

Now you know the truth - there is simply no excuse to not get out there and get started walking. You can always find time to walk around your workplace, or the block. If that's not possible, get a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There are numerous ways to skin this exercise cat.
