The Bottom Line

If you are seriously interested in studio pottery, as a potter yourself or as fascinated bystander, this is a great magazine. It does assume a base knowledge; however, in most cases this probably will not greatly hinder understanding or enjoyment.

Pros
  • Good balance in types of articles.
  • Beautiful and detailed photos of pots, potters at work, and tutorials.
  • Nice balance of studio pottery and sculptural ceramics

    Cons
    • May be too technical for the beginning potter.

    Description
    • Full-color bimonthly magazine, sixty-five to seventy pages in length, published in US English.
    • Readily available in the US and Canada through subscription. Subscriptions from elsewhere must be paid in US dollars.
    • Of interest to anyone who loves clay, but geared for the intermediate to advanced studio potter.

Guide Review - "Clay Times" Magazine

Clay Times is a well-produced bimonthly periodical. It is very readable, and its visual content is both highly informative as well as beautiful. It has a very nice balance in the types of articles: current events, how-to tutorials, interviews, focus pieces, and advice on a range of topics meaningful to potters and ceramic sculptors.
