Yellow Parrots Are a Big Hit

103 7
The Yellow Parrots prefer the subtropical or tropical habitats of Honduras, Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, living in rain forests, swamps and other types of land with lots of trees.
Sadly, deforestation has threatened these bird's natural habitat.
Their markings and attractive colors is partly what gives them their popularity.
They have a bright yellow head, somewhat green body, and a bright red patch on each wing.
Though they talk less than the African Grey parrot, they are still a very popular pet bird.
A lot of training and attention has to be given to these birds to encourage them to talk.
It will be easy to give them attention since they are intelligent, funny, playful and quite active.
Also, since the Yellow Headed Amazon parrots are noisy, coaching them to talk will cut down their tendency to shriek.
Yellow parrots are really active and love to fly.
If you want to let your Yellow parrot fly you will need a very large open area.
It is advisable to have an enclosed aviary, but not many people have that much space.
So, if you clip their wings, and allow them to roam around your house for exercise then they should be fine with spending most of their time in a cage.
Also provide them with chewy toys so they can keep themselves entertained.
Even though the Amazons are prone to causing accidents, they can be trained quiet easily to be more careful.
However, due to their size and curious nature, they will always get into some kind of trouble.
Male Yellow Amazon parrots are slightly bigger than the female Amazons.
They use their short, hooked beaks, which are quite strong, to break the shells of seeds and hard nuts.
They also use their beaks to climb, explore and grasp objects.
In the jungle, the Amazon parrot's diet includes leaf buds, blossoms, berries, nuts and fruits.
You should also know that it is very important to make sure the Yellow parrots diet is balanced and full of nutrients.
How long they survive is the first thing you need to understand before buying these species.
They can live up to 80 years, which means that they are a very long-term commitment.
You may want to find a parrot with a shorter life span if you do not want such a long commitment.
