Introducing the Self - Unacceptable Selves
Each of us walks around with a bunch of different 'people' inside playing different roles at different times in our lives.
These selves are the central building blocks of the psyche.
Most of the time it is either the interaction or dynamic between these selves that creates stress and anxiety in our lives.
In the following article I would like to introduce you to a group of these selves, the Unacceptable Selves.
Definition The Unacceptable Selves are energy patterns that have been partially or totally excluded from our lives.
It is not a specifically defined group as it largely depends on the individual that decides which selves are not allowed, depending on cultural and family factors.
In many cases though in the western societies we have many similar disowned energy patterns, for example:
In many cases when we develop awareness we will realise that those selves who we identify strongly with in a positive sense, have an opposite force to balance it, which most often are part of our Unacceptable Selves.
How did they come to be unacceptable? Growing up we have learnt that some of our expressions of self are more desired and some are less desired.
Depending on your family and cultural values you will have adapted your experience and its expression to either match or rebel against it.
Honoring the selves People in the field of personal development sometimes believe that as part of your evolution those less acceptable selves need to go away, be processed or exchanged with the all-loving, all-accepting group of selves.
Believing that will lead to disappointment and pain.
It is simple: We need to learn to honor all our selves.
We need to develop awareness and an Aware Ego that can exist separately from all the selves and acknowledge both those we have identified with and those selves from which we run.
Honoring all the selves will give us choice as opposed to having our psychological car run by one of the selves without our say.
The consequence is that there will be no reason to feel bad or guilty about the way we are.
Each self will be fully honored; our awareness will simply witness what is.
