A dishwasher is a form of mechanical device used for the purpose of washing and cleaning eating utensils like dishes, plates, glasses and so on. It is usually available in restaurants and hotels however can also be used commonly in private households. Hot water and detergents are used for cleaning the dishes. Then the residue of the detergents is removed by spraying clean water on them followed by the process of drying the dishes with a circulated hot air. Some dishwashers have the system of multiple washing, rinsing and drying in the entire washing cycle. While these mechanical devices, on one hand, seem to be very useful and can be used regularly, on the other hand, they can have issues like noise, leakage or residue. Below are answers to few of the more common questions about dishwashers:

On a Bosch dishwasher, can a three hour cycle be regarded as a normal cycle?
A three hour cycle could mean that there is a problem with the dishwasher. It usually happens if the water is not heating up inside the unit. Therefore, the normal cycle for washing would be usually around two to two and a half hours. Such problems are very typical of these devices and to avoid them, you need to check if steam is coming out of the door once you open the unit. A short circuit in the relay to the control board, which is located on the inner side of the door, generally causes this problem to occur. The relay transmits power to the heater. Thus, if the relay fails, the washer cannot work properly. That is why the cycle gets extended in heating the water. This unit would cost you one hundred and fifty dollars with additional charges for shipping.

How is it possible to access the control board of Bosch dishwasher?
In order to have access to the control board, first you need to find the screws that are situated on the border of the door. Then you have to open the door, unscrew them and take them all out apart from the two that are there near the bottom hinge. These screws are only meant to be loosened. Later, you have to take out the two screws from each side of the control panel so that you can take the panel out easily. This will allow you to access the control board. Finally, to remove the control panel, you have to push the three tabs at the bottom of it.

There is usually a small amount of water left in my Asko dishwasher after the washing is over, giving out a bad odor. Why does it happen?
In order to stop seals and pumps from rotting and cracking, dishwasher models from Bosch, Asko and Miele are designed to keep water in a small amount inside them. For cleaning the inside of the unit and to remove the odor, you can use dishwasher cleaners like Dishwasher Magic on an empty cycle. You can also leave the door open a little rather than just shutting it tight. This will allow fresh air to circulate inside which will prevent the odor from happening again.

Due to the failure in the water softener, salt has accumulated in the toilet pump causing it to malfunction and thus, my dishwasher does not have water entering into it. The water line seems to be blocked. Can it be flushed out?
To begin with, you can take off the screw kick panel and disconnect the washer or switch the circuit breaker off. After that, unplug the water supply to the device and remove the electronic water valve. Once that is done, try flushing the screen below the faucet. However, you may require a replacement for the valve, if this does not work. But then, you may find that the fault could be either with the float switch blocked in an upright position or with the electronic valve located under the unit. This will be the case if your water supply pipe provides water to the device. Now there is a plastic circular float device on the front corner of the unit. You will find it once you have opened the door. You need to move it up and down, however, make sure that it points downward. If you do not see any change or there are no sudden unplugged wires, it means that the problem is with the electronic water valve. It needs to be replaced.

What is the cause for my dishwasher to drain the water immediately after I manually add it into it? The device is stuck and not washing.
This is a flood mode issue which usually happens because of too much detergent use resulting in overfilling the tub or blocking the drain. In this case, the water goes into the base pan under the washer and gets drained out continuously. To fix this problem, you need to drain the water out of the base pan by deactivating the washer and then tilting it at forty five degrees. In order to stop spillage and absorb the excess water, you can put a towel below the unit. Once the water is taken out, connect the unit and pour a gallon of water into it. However, if the draining has not stopped, it means that there is some water still left in the base pan which needs to be removed. Alternatively, you can leave the device unused for a week that will have all the water in the base pan evaporated allowing the dishwasher to function again.

There could be many other dishwasher problems that you may face other than the ones mentioned above. These could relate to issues like noise problems, leakages, inefficient cleaning. While on some occasions, you do not need it and can do manual washing, on other occasions, it becomes difficult to wash without them. Thus, you can always ask an electrician to help you resolve your issue with minimum time, effort and resources.
