Two Sightings of Daughter"s Doppelganger
Around November, 2008, I witnessed what could best be described as a doppelganger of my 17-year-old daughter. I believe the time of day was approximately 11 a.m.
I had been outside doing some work and came up our basement stairs to get something from inside the house. My shoes were very muddy, so when I saw my daughter in the laundry room, I was glad I didn't have to walk across the house to get whatever it was I needed.
I called out to her, but she did not respond. From my vantage point, I could see her from behind doing what appeared to be laundry or folding laundry. She never looked at me, but I could clearly see it was her. I saw the profile of her face and clearly remember what she was wearing. She was about 35 feet away from me. She just kept doing what she was doing.
I called out to her again, and again received no response. She then turned to the left and walked into the half bathroom that is off of our laundry room. At this point she was out of my sight.
This angered me as I could not understand why she would ignore my calls to her. I started to walk across the dining room (muddy feet and all) to confront her. I called her name again and she responded... only she was in our living room, sitting in a chair watching TV. Her clothes were different and her hair was down instead of pinned up, which is the way I saw it.
There is no way she could have gotten into the living room without me seeing her. There is only one way to get from that area of the house to our living room, and she would have had to walk right in front of me.
I was shocked. I even said, "Weren't you just in the laundry room?" She said she wasn't. She had been in the living room the whole time, watching TV. My two other daughters were in there with her.
This had a profound effect on me. I thought something must be wrong with my mind. I saw her plain as day. The effect was profound enough that I sat down on our outside steps for at least 30 to 45 minutes, wondering what just happened to my mind.
The remainder of the day was strange for me. I really didn't speak to anyone. I thought I was crazy... until yesterday. On June 20, 2012 at approximately 9 p.m., this same daughter's boyfriend was traveling down our road toward our house. As he approached the house, he saw my daughter standing on our outside deck (which is right off our laundry room).
He said as he was getting ready to pull in our driveway, and she was watching him. Then she looked down into the yard as if to look at our dogs. He looked down for a moment as he turned off his vehicle, and when he looked up, she was not there. He assumed she had walked back into the house, until he saw her inside. She was sitting in the living room, talking to her father. Her clothes and hair were different from what he had just seen.
He asked her if she had just been outside. She said no, that she had been sitting here the whole time. As he was telling us what he saw, he remembered that he thought it odd that our motion light was not on, even though she was outside. He assumed she had been out there for awhile waiting for him and the light had just gone off due to no movement.
Even though it was 9 p.m., it is still light enough out to tell what you are looking at. The days are very long this time of year, so he could still see pretty clearly for that time of night. There would be no way for her or anyone else to have walked off that deck without him seeing them.
We live in a rural area, so it's not like there are a bunch of people running around that he could have confused her with anyway. To be honest, I was a bit excited to hear his story because for me it validated what I had seen a few years earlier. He didn't even know about my story. I had never told him. He didn't know until my daughter told him.
We know what we saw, but there is no doubt in my mind that "it" was there. I don't know what it was or why it was there, but whatever it is, it looks exactly like my daughter. These events took place in Villa Ridge, Missouri.
