Bar d'Hôtel is a favorite hangout among Rio's well-off and beautiful. The restaurant/bar overlooking Leblon Beach at the Hotel Marina All Suites (opened in 1999) celebrated its 10th anniversary with an expensive renovation: it gained an LED lighting project by Maneco Quinderé with strategically positioned lamps and neon-framed ceiling mirrors which bring out the electric colors of the retro-pop décor by Beatrice Goldfeld.
Along with the renovations came changes in the menu, which now has a greater focus on Brazilian ingredients in dishes such as the shrimp salad with fresh heart of palm, cashew nuts and creamy citrus vinaigrette and in desserts such as brigadeiro crème brûlée.
Small tables for two in the room with the bar offer the best views of the beach; the booths with sofas are some of the best spots for groups among Rio bars.
The Marina All Suites also has Bar do Lado on the ground floor, with a veranda facing Leblon Beach.
Hours: Daily noon to 2 a.m. Reservations accepted until 9 p.m.
