    Fathers for Equal Rights

    • Fathers for Equal Rights has its home office in Miami and has served as a national organization for married and unmarried fathers since 1967. This organization seeks to provide fathers with all the tools necessary to maintain their parental rights to their children. Because women have historically been given preferential treatment in child custody cases, Fathers for Equal Rights aims to grant fathers the same rights as mothers by arming them with up-to-date information regarding the family court system and child custody laws. Fathers for Equal Rights offers counseling, a crisis hotline and workshops and seminars to educate fathers about their parental rights. The organization also refers fathers to local family attorneys and assists fathers in filing court motions.

    Dads of Florida

    • Dads of Florida does not offer legal services to fathers but does offer a substantial amount of resources for fathers rights issues, including state and federal divorce and child custody law information. The organization also offers self-help information and access to legal assistance through local courts. Dads of Florida offers free information on paternity fraud, child support, alimony, shared parenting and a wealth of other resources. The organization also shares the personal struggles of fathers in receiving equal parenting rights to their children and information on fighting unfair court practices. Dads of Florida also offers information on the Florida Bar for fathers who wish to file complaints against judges and attorneys.

    Putative Father Registry

    • Fathers may place their names on the Florida Putative Fathers Registry, which protects children from being placed for adoption without the consent of the father. The registry is also used in cases where there is a Petition for the Termination of Parental Rights. The registry also allows fathers to remove their names in cases where paternity is in question or has been disproved.
