How to List Temporary Experience on a Resume

104 4
  • 1). List your temporary assignments at the top of the experience section, starting with the most recent position. List your temporary jobs in descending date order, starting with the most recent assignment.

  • 2). Format your temporary assignments as you would any other job, by listing the name of the company you worked for, along with the job title you held and the start and end dates of the assignment. List the name of the temporary agency as part of the company name, i.e. ABC Company -- Assignment through XYZ Temporary Employment.

  • 3). Use a phrase such as temporary assignment ended or short-term contract position when completing the reason for leaving section for each assignment. Without that basic information, the hiring manager might see those short-term job tenures and assume you were fired or you quit.

  • 4). Provide the name of the manager who supervised you at each temporary assignment. List a contact phone number and email address for each manager for whom you worked.

  • 5). Contact the people you worked with at those temporary assignments and ask if you can use them as references. List those references.
