How to Know if a Tiger Fish Is Breeding
- 1). Stay near the breeding tank after the tiger barbs are placed together. Breeding usually takes place within a few hours of the fish being brought together, if not sooner.
- 2). Watch the male tiger barbs. During the beginning of the process, they chase the female fish around the tank.
- 3). Inspect the female fish. When they are getting ready to spawn, they fatten up, acquiring a rounded shape to their short bodies.
- 4). Watch for the females to release their eggs. Females lay their eggs in sheltered spots around rocks and plants.
- 5). Wait for the males to leave a spray of sperm over the place where the females lay their eggs.
