How to Germinate Meyer Lemon Seeds
- 1). Fill the cells of a seed tray with a good seed-starting soil mix to within 1 inch of the top of each cell within the tray.
- 2). Remove the seeds from a Meyer lemon and place one seed in each cell within the tray. Cover the seeds with the seed starter mix and press the mix down firmly.
- 3). Water the seeds so that the soil around them is damp but not wet.
- 4). Punch several holes through the plastic zip-top bag to allow for proper ventilation. Insert the seed tray into the plastic bag and seal the bag.
- 5). Place the seeds in the bag in a warm area that is well-lit, but not in direct sunlight.
- 6). Check the seeds in two to three weeks for any that may have sprouted. Remove the seed tray from the bag. After the seedlings have two to three leaves on them, transplant each seedling to a 1-gallon grow-out pot filled with top soil. Water the Meyer lemon saplings regularly to keep the soil damp.
- 7). Transplant each sapling to an outdoor location or a larger pot for indoor planting when the tree is 2 feet tall.
