Precautions

• The FDA lists dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as a common skin coloring agent used in spray tan products. When applied to the skin, DHA reacts with amino acids to produce the appearance of a tan. Products containing DHA are approved for external use only and care should be taken to avoid exposure to eyes and lips. The FDA also warns against inhaling spray tanning mist that contains DHA.
