How to Wrap Dry Hair

    • 1). Start with hair that is dry and clean. The build-up of dirt and oils in your hair and scalp can make dry hair wrapping more difficult. Clean hair is easier to manipulate and holds a style better than dirty hair. Use a leave- in conditioner to further ready your hair for wrapping.

    • 2). Use a comb or brush to get the tangles and kinks out of your hair. Utilize long strokes to ensure you catch each strand of hair from root to tip. Alternate each comb or brush stroke with deliberate hand smoothing. The appearance of your hair wrap depends on how flat and uniform you can make your hair.

    • 3). Make a part in the top of your scalp that helps define the shape and intended spiral of your wrap. Etch out a smarting point that extends horizontally between your ears. Use a mirror to determine the best starting point. Most people use the line that would also be used to make suitable bangs.

    • 4). Apply a small amount of setting or wrap lotion to your hair as you ready it for the most important part of the procedure. The hair lotion helps to soften the hair and prevent rogue stands and frizz.

    • 5). Begin forming the wrap by working with the hair directly in front of the part you made. Comb this hair to the left or right side of your face, depending on which way you'd like to wear your wrap.

    • 6). Keep combing in your chosen direction incorporating each section of hair your pass. Use your hand to continue smoothing to help control each strand of hair. Continue brushing or combing your hair into the spiral pattern until all hair is included in the wrap.
