  Hualien City, the capital of Hualien County, lies on the east Pacific coast of Taiwan. The city sits between the ocean to the east and the Central Mountain Range to the west, providing outdoor enthusiasts with the best of both worlds -- water sports and inland adventures. Hualien City is home to several seashore parks and Buddhist temples. The city center is small, and visitors can tour its entirety on foot or by scooter.
