While Seoul is a landlocked city, its position within South Korea makes it easy to escape the city for a day on the beach. The best places to look are on Korea's West Sea, located within a day's travel from Seoul and easily accessible by car or by train. - Located close to Seoul and the city's Incheon International Airport, Eurwangni Beach should be the first choice for beach day-trippers. This scenic beach has boat rentals, fishing and shallow waters, making it a popular destination for families. But the beach is capable of accommodating 30,000 people, so don't expect this to be a secluded getaway. This is a popular destination for tourists and Korean families.
- While this beach is a little farther from Seoul, located southwest of the city, it is the largest public beach on Korea's West Sea. The beach is noted for its fine sand and gentle waves, making Daecheon Beach an equally popular choice for families. There's a campsite as well, for overnight stays.
- A bit more rustic, Muchangpo Beach is known for its "Miracle of Moses," an occasion twice monthly when the tides cause the sea to part, allowing visitors to walk to a small island off the beach's shore. If you're not lucky enough to witness the parting, there's still plenty to do, as Muchangpo Beach features swimming, fishing and seashells galore.
