    • 1). Position one rose corner molding panel on each top corner of the headboard. Use a tape measure to space the corner molding panels one inch in from the corners. Apply wood glue to the back of the panels and position them back in place.

    • 2). Hammer finish nails through the molding panels approximately 1/2 inch in from the edges every two inches around the entire panel.

    • 3). Center the rose centerpiece molding panel and position it one inch in from the top edge of the headboard using a tape measure. Apply wood glue to the back of the panel and press it back in place. Hammer finish nails through the molding panel approximately 1/2 inch in from the edges every two inches around the entire panel.

    • 4). Position the tip of the nail set on the finish nail heads and tap the end with a hammer to set each nail approximately 1/16 inch below the surface of the panels.

    • 5). Fill each nail hole with wood putty using a putty knife. Leave the putty raised just above the surface of the panels to allow for the putty to shrink as it dries. Allow the putty to dry for 24 hours.

    • 6). Sand the wood putty flush with the surface of the rose molding panels using a fine-grit sanding pad. Always sand with the grain of the wood. Wipe off the dust from sanding using a tack cloth.

    • 7). Apply wood finish to each rose molding panel with a paintbrush and allow the finish to dry at least four hours. Brush on a second coat and allow it to dry for 24 hours before using the headboard.
