How to Install Suse 10.1 64 Bit
- 1). Obtain the SuSE 10.1 64 bit set of 5 CDs. This version is no longer available as a download from the SuSE website but can be obtained through the Linux Compatible web site.
- 2). Place the first CD in the computer's CD-ROM drive and reboot the computer.
- 3). Choose the "Boot from CD-ROM" option during the boot process.
- 4). Select the "Installation" option from the list that appears.
- 5). Choose your preferred language from the drop-down list.
- 6). Choose the "Yes, I Agree to the License Agreement" option.
- 7). Select the "New Installation" option.
- 8). Select your region and time zone.
- 9). Choose a desktop environment. The two main desktop environments are GNOME and KDE. If you prefer another desktop environment, select the "Other" option.

Choose the default partition scheme, if this is your first time installing a Linux operating system. Otherwise, choose your preferred partitioning scheme. - 11
Click the "Install" button to begin the installation. - 12
Remove the CD and reboot the system when the installation is finished. - 1). Choose the "SUSE Linux 10.1" option when the computer finishes the boot process.
- 2). Type the hostname and domain name for the system in the text boxes.
- 3). Choose a password for the root (super) user.
- 4). Configure your network settings and online updates using the network configuration wizard.
- 5). Choose a "User Authentication Method." Home users will choose the "Local (/etc/passwd)" option. If you are in a networked environment, ask your system administrator.
- 6). Type in a username and password.
- 7). Review the release notes and hardware configuration and click the "Finish" button.
- 8). Log into the system using your username and password.
