How to Define a Date Format for a Microsoft Access Field

  • 1). Open your table in Design view.

  • 2). Create a Date/Time datatype field, or click on one that is already created.

  • 3). In the Field Properties box in the bottom of the screen, Click on the General tab, and then on Format.

  • 4). When you click on Format, an arrow appears to the right side. Click on the arrow to obtain a menu of format choices.

  • 5). Select from General Date, Long Date, Short Date, General Time, Long Time or Short time.

  • 6). Save your table.
