A Common Anxiety Definition

An anxiety definition you say? Have you read the dictionary definition for anxiety? Let me fill you in.
1.
A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
2.
Desire to do something, typically accompanied by unease.
Ha! To someone who has really experience serious anxiety, that seems like the understatement of the century.
I know one word which perfectly describes my panic attacks, you might have heard of it.
APOCALYPSE.
That's right, I literally feel like my world is going to collapse.
My heart is racing, I am sweating, my knees are weak, I can hardly breathe at times and I'd rather throw myself in front of the closest speeding vehicle than endure another second of the sensations accompanied with ah, what was it...
that "feeling of worry".
I don't know about you, but that's how I feel when I have an anxiety attack.
It is the worst feeling in the world.
It makes me feel miserable and insignificant and totally powerless, but I know I'm not! So what is this sensation? Why does my body go out of control? And why do I feel so scared in the midst of seemingly normal things?.
An anxiety definition isn't what you need.
In fact, if you're here and reading this you already know damn well what it feels like.
You insist you say? Alright.
I'll budge.
The truth is that, nobody really knows what causes anxiety.
Sure they have all sorts of pills to supposedly suppress the experience in exchange for your sanity and personal independence, forcing you to become another borderline junkie, and there are seminars all across the country and everyone and his grandma is fixing to fix it, but in reality, nobody really knows what the heck is up with it or what causes it.
Away from the dictionary a more accurate anxiety definition can be found, a definition which rings true to everyone who has ever experienced it.
Simply put.
Social anxiety is caused by a traumatic experience which forces you to react over cautiously or fearfully to a situation that is otherwise completely harmless and entirely safe.
But this is just for one occasion.
It could have been that you got hit by a car when you were young and now cars, even parked makes your heart race like you're being chased by a pack of wild dogs.
Most people fail to identify their reactions with a past event in order to make a clear logical correlation and thereafter end up stacking and propagating this fear and literally growing their anxiety into other social situations, eventually crippling their entire capacity for social communication if the problem is left untreated or unnoticed so to speak.
A good anxiety definition would be, the inability of an individual to logically differentiate danger from safety.
In order to take the first steps towards overcoming social anxiety you must learn to become aware of your body and mind.
I know you're thinking that's a long shot when you're having a panic session.
I know, believe me, I'm not saying it's easy, but the goal to overcoming anxiety is awareness and analysis.
Anxiety Definition Another anxiety definition could be, a person whose brain has had its logical links broken.
To rebuild those neural pathways and reinforce logical thought to help you overcome anxiety situations, you need to convince your brain that it is overreacting.
How do you do that? Easy! Simply, stop, look, listen, feel and assess the situation around you.
That is all.
This will allow your brain to analyze the situation from a logical stand point and the moment you formulate that notion it will come into direct conflict with the overwhelming emotional state in which you currently are.
The two cannot exist together and by reinforcing this idea of safety through an evaluation of your immediate environment, which is factually non-threatening you allow your mind and body to calm down by reassuring it that it is not in danger.
Here is another anxiety definition; Anxiety is considered to be a normal reaction to a stressor.
See, that's not really always the case.
If you really have anxiety, you know what I'm talking about.
Do teddy bears stress most people out? No.
What about water? No? How about yellow rubber duckies? Doubt it.
I'm sure you've thought it too.
I'm a freak.
Surely something is wrong with me if everyone else is ok? The truth of the matter is, almost everyone has some form of anxiety.
It may not be speaking or driving or flying anxiety, but it falls under the anxiety definition.
It's just a little stranger.
Don't feel like you are broken.
Don't feel like you are not worthy.
Anxiety is manageable and with the right tools it is curable.
Keep your chin up.
I recommend you try to solve the problem on your own.
If all else fails at the end of the day you can always try Panic Away.
It seems to work for most people's anxiety issues.
Well that's it for your anxiety definition today.
