How to Password Protect Certain Files in Windows Vista

    • 1). Find the file folder to which you want to add a password.

    • 2). Right-click on the file folder and wait for a small gray menu to pop up next to the folder.

    • 3). Click on the "Properties" tab on the gray menu. Click on the "Sharing" tab.

    • 4). Scroll down the window to the box with "Make This Folder Private" next to it.

    • 5). Check the box and click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

    • 6). Enter the password you use to log on to your system to enter the folder. A small box pops up for you to enter your password when you click on the folder. Type your password into the box and click on the "OK" button to gain access to your folder.
