Revival Focuses Our Attention on What Is Central and Vital If Man Is to Be Rescued From His Sin!
Why do we so need Revival in the Church of Jesus Christ? What is revival? If God breathed yet again on the Church would people recognise and realise what was happening? Read Church History, or to be more accurate, Kingdom History, because when Revival comes it is basically the Kingdom of God breaking through in some new way affecting the lives of many, and challenging the moral and ethical standards of society.
Over these past weeks and months it has been such a joy to read and study and pray about Revival.
We so need Revival in the Church of Jesus Christ, but how desperate are we to open ourselves to embrace that Revival? We need revival because of an increasing loss of confidence in the Scriptures.
Are you in the Scriptures every day? If you are concerned about spirituality and if you are interested in being inspired then get into the Word of God as we have it in the Old and New Testaments.
Because we hold to the Scriptures, we are in the danger of being called old-fashioned and out of date, or dogmatic and reactionary and stubborn and anti-intellectual, and we should rather be pitied instead of being derided.
For years up here I was criticised and questioned - for using that term 'born again' by people in what was regarded as the church.
That is American! Well it was Jesus Christ who used the words and Jesus Christ was not American! Revival brings a new return to the Scriptures and hunger for the Scriptures.
The purpose of the Scriptures is many, but we read in John Chapter 20, that you may believe in Jesus and have life.
That is one of the consequences of the Scriptures.
God is behind all Scripture.
Men wrote as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
The disciples devoted themselves to these four activities, and these are the basics and must remain the basics when we are seeking for and praying for a yearning for Revival.
These new believers gave themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship and to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
Now, if you are seeking how to become more mature or more spiritual or if you have that desire to develop and deepen your spirituality then these four activities are foundational.
It was God who added to their number.
It was God who increased the spirituality in all kinds of ways and inspired disciples of Jesus to attempt mighty work for almighty God.

When Revival came to Israel under Josiah the king, Josiah went to the Temple and read the Word.
The Psalmists heart and flesh cried out for the living God.
