      Not only does this question help the graphic designer generate images, but it also tells her what kind of mood the logo should have. A logo for a lawyer would probably have a more sophisticated look to it than a logo for a farm, which could be more rustic. It is important for the designer to know what sort of image the company wants to convey to the public and the target market.

    • A tag line is a short phrase that states the company's main objective. For example, Nike uses the tag line: "Just do it" and McDonald's states: "We love to see you smile." A company often wants its tag line incorporated into the logo. It is important to ask a client if he wants this done. A tag line can become just as much a representation of the company as the logo itself, so it is good to have them displayed hand in hand.

    • If a company is redesigning a current logo, the client may want to stay with the original color scheme to maintain coherency. It is also a good idea to see what colors the client wants to stay away from and colors that he may prefer.
