If you haven't been in a cave for the last couple years, then chances are that you have at least heard of a social networking site.
Thousands of new people are joining social networking sites every day! So why are so many people joining and what is the big deal? Social networking sites provide people the chance to talk and interact with people from all over the world.
Before the internet meeting people and chatting with them from you home, would have been impossible.
We did have phones, but they do not provide us with the opportunity to actually meet new people.
Social networking sites allow people to interact with just about anyone who has a computer and belongs to the social network.
Businesses are starting to realize that the exposure you can get for a business online is tremendous.
With so many people flocking to the internet it is no wonder that businesses want to be there as well.
Not only can you get exposure for a particular business, but you can also build your own network too.
People often think that meeting people online is impersonal.
The reality is that you can learn more about a person on the internet than you could otherwise.
Almost all of the social networking sites have you fill out a section that is all about you.
This means that every time someone clicks on your profile they will learn all about you.
Not to mention that 1 out of 8 couples met online, which tells you that it is a great way to meet people.
There are really many reasons why people use online social networking sites, however, the most common reason would be because they make communication much easier and more effective.
