How to Attach a Fishing Jig to a Line

    • 1). Tie a loose overhand knot about 4 inches from the end of the line. Do not pull tight; leave the loop in place. This is a jig loop knot. Illustrations for tying the knot are linked in the reference section.

    • 2). Insert the end of the line through the eye of the jig hook and pull it back around toward the loop.

    • 3). Pull the end of the line through the loop.

    • 4). Turn the end of the line around the main line in a half hitch and pull it through this second loop.

    • 5). Slide the back loop toward the first loop and adjust the first loop to the desired size.

    • 6). Pull both loops tight to secure the knot, then clip the excess line. This leaves a jig tied in a loop of line so it can wriggle freely in the water.
