Common Causes of Divorce - Hasty Ugly Words

103 34
Do you know one of the most destructive causes of divorce is a temper without control? It is true.
A temper without control is destructive to every one around it.
There are some societies which believe there is nothing wrong with a temper and even pass it off as natural because of their ethnicity.
Like, "What do you expect.
I'm Italian.
" Now that is not slam.
I heard that once and Italians are pretty animated a lot of the time, as are others.
What about your marriage? Does someone there go off like the Atomic bomb over anything and everything or maybe nothing at all? Is one of you walking on egg shells all the time for fear of setting off yet another outburst? If this is happening in your marriage it is a pretty good chance someone is going to be filing for divorce sooner or later.
I walked on egg shells for years.
I never knew what word or act or glance or deed would send her over the edge to yet another full flung raging battle.
I know the stress and agony of living with a lit fuse.
Here is the deal.
Tempers seem to take on a life of their own.
They usually get worse rather than better.
If violence is not a part of the domestic picture at this time it may soon be.
Then someone is going to jail for either a short time or a long time.
The out of control person may not get to make the choice because they are temporarily insane.
Is holding on to a nasty temper worth more than the loving companion? I would hope not.
Regret and guilt are pretty horrible things to live with for a life time.
I came across a poem illustrates this pretty well.
THE ECHO I shouted aloud and louder While out on the plain one day The sound grew faint and fainter Until it had died away.
My words had gone forever.
They left no trace or track, But the hills nearby caught up the cry And sent an echo back.
I spoke a word of anger To one who was my friend, Like a knife it cut him deeply, A wound that was hard to mend.
That word, so thoughtlessly uttered, I would we could both forget, But its echo lives and memory gives The recollection yet.
How many hearts are broken, How many friends are lost By some unkind word spoken Before we count the cost! But a word or deed of kindness Will repay a hundredfold, For it echoes again in the heart of men And carries a joy untold.

Lufburrow I hope these wise words found a place in your heart as they did mine.
It seems our lot in life to hurt those closest to us, just because we can and think they will be around forever.
We treat complete strangers better than we do our own loved ones.
We treat a $5 dog better than we do our choice mate.
We owe them better than to abuse them with unkind words and deeds.
Save your marriage and your very own integrity by speaking kind words to each other.
Do not let anger and its nasty effects become a cause of divorce in your marriage.
